2010 Racing Season
2010 was an eventful year, to say the least! It was a milestone of sorts for us as we were able to keep
one car throughout the season (lol). We started off the year at the World Dirt Track Championships at Texas Motor Speedway.
We were able to make about 1/2 of a lap before the motor started pouring smoke out of the headers. After working through Thursday
nights practice in 30 degree weather, we felt we had the problem solved. Unfortunately, the problem was much worse than we
anticipated, and we ended our weekend without ever completing a lap officially. We came back to Shreveport still feeling optimistic
about the year, but it was a frustrating first few months as we fought problem after problem with the Shaw. After weeks of
re-doing things done by the original owners, (overhaul of entire brake system, new birdcages, etc), we were finally able to
start dialing in the car around the first part of July. The addition of Crew Chief Johnny Vaught proved to be instrumental
in turning around the performance of the car as we were able to drive to several strong finishes toward the end of the season,
with a season high 5th at Sabine Speedway after starting 16th, and a 6th at Champion Park the final night of the season.
But the 2010 season was not just limited to the local dirt tracks. July 19th-20th Ryan and Ronnie were part of a 7 person
team that raced in in a 24 hour endurance race at Texas Motor Speedway. We were able to drive a severely underpowered '91
BMW home to a 12th place finish after running as low as 29th. All in all, it was a great season for Humphrey Racing, and we
are very excited about 2011!
